Custom Design Process
We will consult with you every step of the way through our custom jewelry design process to ensure the finished product is everything you imagined. We’ll guide you step-by-step through the entire process and customize your unique piece to fit your needs and budget. Depending on degree of complexity and revisions, the completion of the piece can take approximately 2-6 weeks.
After selecting a loose diamond from our inventory, we begin the custom jewelry design process by discussing your ideas and inspiration. If you already have a picture or drawing of the design you have in mind, please bring it when you come to meet with us. If you do not have an idea in mind, we have an extensive inventory of engagement rings and wedding band mountings in our showroom, so we can show you actual examples that can be modified if needed.
We will calculate an estimate based off the approximation of total carat weight of the stones, quality of stones, type of metal selected, and labor costs. Upon approval of the estimate, a deposit is paid and the computer design process begins.
Using computer software, we design a 3D graphic prototype of your ring, which is then emailed to you for visualization and approval. If modifications are needed, we will make those changes and will once again email you a render for approval. Once the design is approved, we will print a wax model of your design.
The wax model is now printed and presented for your approval. The wax model will look exactly like the computer render. In most cases, when the computer render is approved, the wax model is approved. This is the last opportunity to consider any revisions needed before the wax is casted into metal. If no revisions are necessary, we will move forward to the final step…the production of your unique piece of jewelry.
Our master jewelers will employ their full skill set when crafting your custom design. They are experts in hand fabrication, gemstone setting, and fine finishes. The wax mold is casted into metal, stones are set, and your unique piece is finished to perfection. Before delivery, we will carefully inspect your piece to ensure it meets our quality standards and expectations. Once your piece has passed our quality control inspection, we will contact you to let you know your custom jewelry piece is finished and ready for your special proposal. Final payment is due upon completion and pick-up.
